About Us

The hills of Central Iowa are rich with wild game. Because of the ample food supply, the dense woods that allow for shelter and preservation in the winter months and effective shelter during the gaming seasons, the deer population has exploded in Central Iowa.

North Branch Whitetails has set aside nearly 800 acres of prime land and established it as hunting land. This block of land includes food plots planned and mapped specifically for wildlife that is desirable to hunters. A 25+ acre lake that supports vegetation and wildlife is contained within the rough terrain that is appealing to the wildlife’s natural instincts for protection.

North Branch Whitetails is located in Zone #4, just outside of Earlham, Iowa; it is family owned and operated by Ron Mason, Jr. The Mason family has owned this land for 45 years. In the late 1800s the land was quarried for limestone and was allowed to return to its natural state; the result is 800 acres containing a variety of wildlife habitats. The North Branch land is a combination of crop and hay fields, steep ravines, lakes, streams and densely wooded areas.

The North Branch hunting reserve is managed following the guidelines set forth by the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA). The land has been strategically planted with food plots that insure the wildlife has access to nourishment year-round; even during the harshest Iowa winter's these deer still have ample food supplies. The deer herd on the land is further managed according to QDMA practices, including hosting doe-only hunts and putting tight restrictions on the quantity and size of bucks that can be harvested.

There are many hunters that have successfully harvested deer from the North Branch land that will attest to the size and health of the herd, as well as the size of the Whitetail bucks. The QDMA plan that is employed on the North Branch land is a year-round effort to maintain, understand and foster a healthy herd of wild Whitetail deer. Whether you are seeing a trophy Whitetail buck, boss gobbler or perhaps a doe for meat this year; North Branch should be your location of choice.
